(Yicai Global) Aug. 2 -- Shenzhen's Konka Group as well as Egypt's Hoho Electrical and Furniture have opened their first plant in Central Egypt's Beni Suef province to sell television sets in Africa and the Middle East.

Konka and Hoho opened the USD30 million factory, run by their joint venture, intending to sell more than 600,000 TVs in Africa and the Middle East within three years, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The 10,000-square meter production base will employ more than 600 local workers, said Zhou Chi, general manager of Konka's international business division.

The pair will use Hoho's existing sales channels and later aim to expand to the European and American markets, as well as produce a larger range of home appliances. Last month, Konka partnered with Jumia, Africa's largest e-commerce platform, to widen its electronics sales network in the continent.
