(Yicai Global) June 8 -- China's Ningsuan Technology Group has launched the world's highest cloud computing data center in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The 645,000-square meter hub has entered trial operation with an estimated total investment of CNY11.8 billion (USD1.7 billion), Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday.

The center should be expanded to its full capacity in five or six years, after which it should house 70,000 server cabinets and create CNY10 billion in annual revenue.

By this project, the southwestern region should improve its informatization to compete with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, according to the Lhasa government. Tibet's digital development should create as many as tens of thousands of jobs and opportunities for locals via online learning.
