(Yicai Global) Nov. 29 -- Hebei-based rig maker Juli Sling Co. [SHE:002342 has won a CNY191-million (USD28.92-million) contract to build the roof on the main stadium of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the company said yesterday.
Juli Sling struck the deal with a joint venture between Qatar's HBK Contracting Co. and China Railway Construction Corp. [SHA:601186;HKG:1186] in the Middle Eastern country two days ago. The joint venture is the main contractor for the stadium.
The deal covers CNY154 million worth of Juli Sling and CNY20.39 million worth of goods from a Mexican film material supplier selected by the joint venture. The total value of the contract is equal to 13.99 percent of the Chinese rig maker's operating revenue last year.
The main stadium will host the soccer tournament's opening ceremony, first match, final and closing ceremony to become a landmark building in Qatar. Juli Sling will use its own products for the roof's stress structure, which covers an area of 56,700 square meters and will be one of the world's largest such roofs.
China Railway Construction won a CNY5.17-billion (USD784-million) contract to help build the stadium in November last year. Based in Lusail, north of Qatar's capital Doha, the stadium will be able to host a crowd of 80,000.
