(Yicai Global) Nov. 25 -- Chinese oilfield services firm and maker of oilfield equipment Jereh Group recently signed an equipment supply contract for a natural gas processing plant in a new petroleum block under development off the coast of Nigeria.

The company, which is based in the port city of Yantai in eastern Shandong province, will provide seven natural gas compressors, four water injection pumps and several natural gas processing sets with a contract value of CNY140 million (USD20 million), the Securities Times reported today.

The report offered no further details.

A block is a "geographical unit of division used in the petroleum activities on the continental shelf. The maritime areas within the outermost limit of the continental shelf are divided into blocks measuring 15 minutes of latitude and 20 minutes of longitude, unless adjacent areas of land, borders with the continental shelves of other nations, or other factors decree otherwise," according to the website of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
