(Yicai Global) Aug. 14 -- China's Internet giants, including Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA] and Tencent Holdings Ltd. [HK:0700] are planning to extend their artificial intelligence (AI) business to Xiongan New Area, China's new special economic zone.

Central enterprises such as China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and China Electronics Corp Holding Co. [HK:0085] and internet companies such as Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu Inc [NASDAQ:BIDU], JD.Com, Inc. [NASDAQ:JD] and Qihoo 360 Technology Co. [NYSE:QIHU] are all planning operating businesses in Xiongan New Area, centering on AI, fintech, network security and cultural creativity, reported ThePaper.cn today, citing Dang Xiaolong, deputy secretary of the provisional party committee of Xiongan New Area.

As a new generation of wireless communication technology, 5G will comprehensively promote the construction of key technical facilities for the digital transformation of all walks of life in the economy and society and promote the digital, networked and intelligent upgrades of the traditional fields, Dang emphasized.

Xiongan New Area will work together with China Telecom Corporation Ltd. [HK:0728] to start 5G innovation demonstration network construction and promote the realization of large scale commercial application of 5G, such as unmanned driving demonstration based on 5G and mobile telemedicine under the 5G network environment.
