(Yicai Global) Sept. 16 -- China imported more raw coal and crude oil in August as domestic output of both commodities slowed, the National Bureau of Statistics said today.
The country produced 320 million tons of raw coal in August, with growth sliding 7.2 points to 5 percent, the NBS said. Imports rose 14.9 percent, up 1.5 percentage points from July, to almost 33 million tons.
Local crude oil production totaled nearly 16.2 million tons in August, up 1 percent annually against a 2.5 percent gain the month prior, while imports surged 9.9 percent on the year to 42.2 tons, the data showed.
