(Yicai Global) June 22 -- Rising demand for locally-made substitutions whittled China’s Tesla imports down to 201 cars last month in a more than 50 percent drop from April, according to the latest data from auto market data portal Chinaauto.
These imports included 102 Telsa Model 3s, as well as 97 Model Xs and 2 Model Ss, figures on the website showed today.
Sales of the Model 3 rolled out from Silicon Valley-based automaker’s Shanghai Gigafactory surged 205 percent monthly to 11,095 in the same period to take a 15.8 percent share of China's EV market, topping all other producers, earlier data from the China Passenger Car Association show.
