(Yicai Global) Sept. 14 -- Authorities in China are scrambling to prepare as Muifa, the 12th typhoon this year, is set to make landfall in eastern Zhejiang province this afternoon. Given the torrential rain and high winds it will bring, most flights in the Yangtze River Delta region have been halted today and tomorrow.

Ningbo Lishe International Airport canceled all flights as of 10 a.m., according to the Flight Master app. Wenzhou Longwan International Airport scratched 98 percent or 315 flights. Hangzhou International Airport cancelled 76 percent or 626 flights, while Nanjing Lukou International Airport pulled 59 percent or 405 flights.

Meanwhile, Shanghai Pudong International Airport cancelled 86 percent or 975 flights, while Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport wiped 71 percent or 539 flights.

Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines also grounded 137 aircraft, according to information on China’s civil aviation resources net. Pudong and Hongqiao airports also used equipment to tie down 115 planes.

In addition, more than 380 trains in the Yangtze River Delta region are likely to be suspended today because of the typhoon, according to China Railway Shanghai Group.
