(Yicai Global) Dec. 6 -- China's total grain output increased 0.9 percent to nearly 664 million tons this year, hitting an all-time high despite the area of land for farming falling.
There was about 1.16 million square kilometers of farmland this year, down 0.8 percent annually, the National Bureau of Statistics said today. The average output per mu, or about 667 square meters, increased 1.8 percent thanks to good weather year-round and more efficient farming methods, it added.
