(Yicai Global) July 11 -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang presided over the signing of cooperation agreements for 21 projects worth some USD30 billion in his recent visit to Germany, with six of them related to the auto industry.
Li took part in the fifth round of governmental negotiation between the two countries on July 9. China and Germany aim to cement their cooperation in emerging industries like digitalization, self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, and new-energy vehicles.
Among the higher profile agreements was a deal between BMW Group and Brilliance Auto to build a third joint-venture factory in China. Great Wall Automotive also formally signed a joint-venture agreement with the German car giant to set up a CNY5.1 billion (USD764 million) JV to produce electric Mini-brand models.
NEV battery giant China Amperex Technology firmed up plans to invest EUR240 million in Thuringia to build an overseas battery production base. Bosch Group will also work together with emerging vehicle company Nio on autonomous driving tech.
