China's Fujian Signs Belt and Road MOU With Czech Olomouc Region China's Fujian Signs Belt and Road MOU With Czech Olomouc Region

(Yicai Global) Dec. 28 -- A Czech delegation led by Olomouc Region Vice Governor Pavel Soltys met with Li Dejin, Fujian province vice governor, to sign a memorandum of understanding on promoting the Belt and Road Initiative in Fuzhou, Fujian's foreign affairs office said.

The pact will help foster cooperation between the province and central and eastern European countries. Li and Soltys also signed an agreement on establishing friendly relations between Fujian and Olomouc.

During his visit, Soltys also spoke with health and education officials in the province about their work.

Wang Tianming, director of the foreign affairs office, headed a working group visit to the Olomouc Region earlier this month and held discussions with Czech officials about the Belt and Road, strengthening trade and economic cooperation, promoting connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.

University Hospital Olomouc Director Roman Havlik suggested beefing up people-to-people exchanges between Fujian and Olomouc and promoting short-term training for medical personnel, medium- and long-term study programs for students and technical interactions between western and traditional Chinese medicine.

Olomouc will host a TCM forum and soccer matches with sister cities next year, Soltys said, adding that he hopes representatives in the TCM field and school athletics teams from Fujian can participate in the events.
