(Yicai Global) Jan. 14 -- China's foreign trade reached CNY31.5 trillion (USD4.6 trillion) in 2019, setting a record high for the world's largest trading nation despite its trade conflict with the US and general uncertainty in the global economy. But the pace of growth decelerated to 3.4 percent from 9.7 percent in 2018.
The country's trade surplus widened 25.4 percent to CNY2.9 trillion, the General Administration of Customs also said today. That compares with an 18.3 percent shrinkage to CNY2.33 trillion in 2018. Exports gained 5 percent to CNY17.2 trillion in 2019, while imports rose 1.6 percent to CNY14.3 trillion.
