(Yicai Global) Sept. 16 -- China's investment in fixed assets rose 5.5 percent to CNY400.6 billion (USD56.7 billion) in the January to August period, according to data the National Bureau of Statistics released today.

That pace was 0.2 percentage point slower than in the first seven months of the year. Infrastructure investment rose 4.2 percent in August, the NBS said.

China has great infrastructure investment potential since its per capita stock is just 20 percent to 30 percent that of developed countries, said NBS spokesperson Fu Linghui.
