China Eyes to Set Up Space Information Corridor to Ensure Interconnectivity With Belt and Road Countries China Eyes to Set Up Space Information Corridor to Ensure Interconnectivity With Belt and Road Countries

(Yicai Global) Sept. 12 -- China is willing to share all kinds of satellite data resources such as remote sensing, communication and navigation with other Belt and Road countries to build a reasonable and fully functional ground information service network and a regional major application service system, which would provide information support for major project construction.

These were remarks by Wu Yanhua, deputy director of State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, who addressed the "One Belt One Road" space information corridor construction and application seminar held in Nanning city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in South China, yesterday, China News Service reported.

The Belt and Road countries have large areas, changeable natural environment and different levels of development and are in need of information interconnection, which makes building a space information corridor necessary, Wu said.

With the rapid development of China's space technology, the implementation of the space infrastructure project and an information integration network project will provide more advanced and convenient space information service to the countries along the route, he added.

"One Belt One Road" space information corridor project is an important way to ensure the connectivity and smooth trade. The project would make full use of China's existing and planned satellite systems and ground network systems to support the application of key areas such as infrastructure construction, energy development, environmental protection, security and trade development of countries along the route.

State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region government also signed a cooperation agreement, and Guangxi High Resolution Data and Application Center and Guangxi High Resolution Data Service Center were unveiled. Guangxi is speeding up the construction of an industrial application data service platform for ASEAN, aimed at the regional economic and social development and promoting the construction of the space information corridor, said Chen Gang, vice governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
