(Yicai Global) May 14 -- Carting small commodities, clothing and other goods, China-Europe Railway Express No. X8024 (Yiwu-Madrid) trundled out of Yiwu West Station yesterday.
It was embarking on the 1,000th trip along the railroad freight line this year.
The rail express service has already made 612 trips more by May than as of the same time last year -- up 158 percent, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing China Railway Corporation statistics. The number of laps the rail link runs has grown rapidly since the debut of the Belt and Road initiative, media reported. Much lower shipping time and logistics costs, continued improvement in service platforms and a greater diversity of goods have all raised the China-Europe Railway Express' brand influence.
Plying the new Eurasian Land Bridge and the Trans-Siberian Land Bridge, three transport routes of the express service -- the West, Central and East routes -- have come into being. China Railway plans 51 dedicated railroad lines originating in 28 cities in China and stretching to 29 cities in 11 European nations.
