China Ends PVC Anti-Dumping Tariffs Levied for 16 Years China Ends PVC Anti-Dumping Tariffs Levied for 16 Years

(Yicai Global) Oct. 30 -- China's Ministry of Commerce terminated anti-dumping duty levied on polyvinyl chloride imports from the United States, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan last month after levying the tariffs for 16 years, it revealed today.

The ministry refreshed its final review investigation into the PVC imports in September last year at the request of the Chinese mainland industry. But the companies that applied for the probe, Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical, Xinjiang Tianye Group, Shaanxi Beiyuan Chemical Industry Group, Tianjin Dagu Chemical and Yibin Tianyuan Group, asked it to cancel the review on Sept. 24 this year.

Five days later, the ministry ceased applying the rates.

China first began levying the tariffs from the four countries and Russia in 2003 and has renewed them several times since, ending the duty for Russia in 2015. The last investigation led to a three-year extension for the remaining nations in September 2015.
