(Yicai Global) April 21 -- Shares in Anhui Deli Household Glass climbed by the daily trading limit after the Chinese firm won a CNY5.5 billion (USD847 million) order for photovoltaic glass from solar energy giant Longi Green Energy Technology.

Deli Household Glass [SHE:002571] closed 10 percent higher today at CNY11.28 (USD1.74). The broader Shenzhen Component Index inched up 0.4 percent.

Deli will supply Longi with at least 250 million square meters of photovoltaic glass from next year to 2026, the Fengyang-based glassware maker said in a statement yesterday. The deal, Deli’s first photovoltaic glass sales contract, is equal to 706 percent of the firm’s revenue last year, it said.

Last December, Deli said it would spend CNY2 billion to build two photovoltaic glass production lines in Anhui province in eastern China. The first is expected to start up this December. Total production will reach 2,000 tons when the second line goes into operation at the end of next year.

Xi’an-based Longi’s solar cell module production has expanded rapidly. Shipments reached 24.5 gigawatts last year and are expected to hit 50 gigawatts this year, according to its annual report published yesterday.

That rapid expansion of production capacity has boosted Longi’s need for raw materials, including photovoltaic glass. Before signing the contract with Deli, Longi in February inked a three-year procurement deal with leading photovoltaic glass supplier Flat Glass Group worth an estimated CNY11.7 billion (USD1.8 billion).
