China's Consumer Goods Sales to Exceed USD5.7 Trillion for First Time This Year, Ministry Says(Yicai Global) Dec. 30 -- China's retail sales of consumer goods will surpass CNY40 trillion (USD5.7 trillion) for the first time ever this year, reaching CNY41.1 trillion, according to the commerce ministry.
Consumption has been the No. 1 driver of China's economic growth for six consecutive years, CCTV reported, citing an official at the Ministry of Commerce.
Consumer goods sales tallied CNY38.1 trillion last year, according to public data.
