China Claims One-Third of the World's 730 Million iPhone Users China Claims One-Third of the World's 730 Million iPhone Users

(Yicai Global) Oct. 9 -- Of the 730 million active iPhone users worldwide today, about one-third -- 243 million -- are in China; thus, the country remains the largest market for the California-based tech giant Apple Inc. [NASDAQ:AAPL], statistics from global mobile market intelligence provider Newzoo show.

The world had 730 million active iPhone users as of July, accounting for about one-tenth of the global population, per the data. Statistics from market research agency Statista show Apple selling about 1.2 billion iPhones in the past decade, with about two-thirds still in use today, Jiemian News reported yesterday.

China is still the largest iPhone market. As of July, the total number of iPhone users in the second-largest economy stood at 243 million, making up 33.3 percent of the global total. The US came in second place with 134 million users, or 18.4 percent of the total.
