China's Civil Aviation Throughput Downturn Narrowed Last Month China's Civil Aviation Throughput Downturn Narrowed Last Month

(Yicai Global) May 13 -- The easing of epidemic prevention and control measures has braked the decline in China's civil aviation sector's total transport turnover, which was 3.95 billion tons-kilometers last month in an annual 62.4 percent drop, narrowing 1 percentage points from March, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said at a press conference today.

The passenger transit volume was 16.72 million in April, down 68.5 percent per year in a 3.2 percentage point decline from the month before. The cargo and mail volume was 484,000 tons, down 19.4 percent annually, but this decrease was 3.9 percentage points less than the previous month’s.

A ton-kilometer is a unit of measurement of freight transport which represents the carriage of one ton of goods, including packaging and tare, over one kilometer, according to the EU’s Eurostat statistical office.
