(Yicai Global) Sept. 12 -- Hubei province in central China will spend CNY200 billion (USD30.6 billion) to enhance energy supply security of the province through investments in power transmission networks and oil and gas pipeline transportation between 2017 and 2019, Hubei Daily reported today.

The landlocked province will cultivate new energy development, accelerate promoting energy facility reinforcement projects around power transmission networks, step up power supply unit construction, enhance energy conservation and distribution guarantee as well as oil and gas pipeline transportation, said Yu Yousong, deputy director general of Hubei Bureau of Energy.

Efficient and reliable energy transmission system will be improved, and multiple energy connection lines will be built across the province. The total investment in oil and gas pipeline projects will reach CNY22.4 billion (USD3.4 billion). The province also eyes to start construction of a 1,000-km pipeline this year and complete the construction of a 300-km pipeline. It aims to finalize energy interconnection project between counties within the province by the end of the year.

Hubei will also support new energy development. Some 3G wind power base station, 2GW photovoltaic power and 300MW biomass power generation projects will be put into operation, and installed capacity in the entire province will reach about 84GW. The total length of oil and gas pipelines will increase to 3,000 km by 2020.

Hubei province will build a national energy channel center, a regional energy resource distribution center as well as a reserve base and establish a diversified supply network of coal, oil, gas and renewable energy. It also aims to increase the ratio of non-fossil energy consumption to primary energy one to more than 15 percent.
