China Central Bank Chief Economist Ma Jun Confirmed to Leave His Post China Central Bank Chief Economist Ma Jun Confirmed to Leave His Post

(Yicai Global) Aug. 14 -- China's central bank research bureau chief economist Ma Jun will leave his post. Yicai Global reporter learned from Ma personally that the term of his service contract with the People's Bank of China, PBOC, has expired, and is currently in a transitional period.

Ma Jun will continue to perform some other jobs in the central bank, Securities Times reported online yesterday.  Ma said that he plans to serve at the Tsinghua University's PBC School of Finance in a few months' time, leading several policy studies. Research area will include macroeconomic policy, financial risk, One Belt and One Road, green finance and related issues. 

Ma also added that he will continue to serve as the director of green finance committee of the China Finance Society to encourage domestic financial institutions to accelerate the green process. He will also continue to participate in a number of international platforms to promote global green finance development and international cooperation in the field.

Ma once worked for the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, and was the chief economist of Deutsche Bank Greater China between 2000 and 2014. Ma Jun has been serving as chief economist at the research bureau of China's central bank since April 2014.
