(Yicai Global) Sept. 11 -- China's car production and sales have increased for five consecutive months by last month amid post-epidemic recovery while new energy vehicles' supply and demand rose to higher than ever during August.
Automobile output widened by 6.3 percent to 2.1 million over the month from a year ago, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said yesterday. Sales volume climbed by 11.6 percent to 2.2 million. Sales have reached double-digit growth for four consecutive months.
NEVs were making up a larger portion of the total. Such production rose 17.7 percent to 106,000 units, more than ever during August. Sales climbed 25.8 percent to 109,000, also a historic high for the month.
From January to August, China's total car production fell 9.6 percent to 14.4 million units. During the first seven months of this year, the decline had been bigger at 11.8 percent.
Over the eight months, total sales slid by 9.7 percent to 14.6 million. That was less than the 12.7 percent decrease during the first seven months.
NEV production and sales both decreased by 26 percent during the eight months from a year ago.
