(Yicai Global) May 4 -- China's domestically-made C919 large passenger aircraft is scheduled to make its maiden flight on Friday at the Pudong International Airport in Shanghai.
More than 50 percent of the C919 aircraft is produced locally by Chinese companies and Chinese-foreign joint ventures, said Zhou Guirong, the C919's deputy chief designer.
The aircraft's entire development process met international standards and methods, and the trial flight will be carried out in strict accordance with international requirements, Zhou said.
After the C919 completes its first flight, its mass production will boost upstream and downstream industries and promote 'made in China.'
The C919 project was officially started in 2007. Some 570 orders for the plane have been received.
