(Yicai Global) Jan. 29 -- BOE Technology’s shares retreated today even though the Chinese display panel maker said a patent infringement investigation started by the US government should not majorly affect its operations.
Shares of Beijing-based BOE [SHE: 000725] fell 3.1 percent to close at CNY6.18 (USD1) each, after skidding as much as 6.4 percent earlier in the day.
On Jan. 27, the US International Trade Commission opened a Section 337 investigation of importers and exporters of certain types of active-matrix organic light-emitting diode displays and components, including those made by South Korea’s Samsung Electronics, on behalf of Irish technology licensing firm Solas OLED.
In a statement today, BOE said it owns theindependent intellectual property rights to the correspondingAMOLED displays and respects the IP rights of others, adding that it will actively deal with the probe that also targets the firm’s US unit.
BOE has more than 10 years of experience in OLED display research and development and the firm has mastered the core technologies in this sector, it said.
BOE has been seeking to expand its flexible AMOLED display output. On Jan. 26, the company said it would raise its stake in a sixth-generation AMOLED panel plant in southwestern China to secure its business secrets. It has one such factory in Chengdu and is building another one in Chongqing.
