(Yicai Global) Sept. 27 -- Shares of China's BAIC Bluepark New Energy Technology jumped after it said it is expected to become the second carmaker whose smart products will be sold via Huawei's online and offline channels.

BAIC BJEV's stock price [SHA: 600733] rose by the daily limit of 10 percent to CNY13.16 (USD2) intraday. The shares are more than 50 percent up this year.

The pair will start selling the ArcFox Alpha S Huawei Hi Edition via Huawei's online and offline channels by December, the Beijing-based carmaker said in a statement yesterday. The model that carries Huawei Inside software was launched last April.

BAIC BJEV's vehicle is likely to become the second model to enter Huawei's sales channels after that of Seres. Last April, the subsidiary of Chongqing-based Sokon teamed with Huawei to create an extended-range option of electric vehicle Seres SF5 to sell it via Huawei's e-commerce platform Vmall and the phonemaker's physical stores.

The partnership has boosted Seres's sales. From April to July, the startup sold almost 2,090 Seres SF5 units, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association. That is a big increase as the firm sold a bit more than 730 units throughout 2020.

In contrast, BAIC BJEV sold 14,500 vehicles between January and August, down 23 percent from a year ago, according to the CPCA.

In addition to software prowess, Shenzhen-based Huawei has been looking to take advantage of its large network of 5,000 high-end authorized experience centers in car sales. Huawei will utilize its online and offline channels to help automakers sell cars, Yu Chengdong, chief executive of Huawei Consumer Business Group, said at Auto Shanghai in April.

BAIC BJEV and Huawei will further strengthen product development of co-branded models and enhance their cooperation on intelligent connected vehicles, BAIC BJEV added.

The carmaker said that the agreement is not expected to have a major effect on the listed company's operating performance this year.
