(Yicai Global) Oct. 24 -- A unit of Chinese drug component maker Asymchem Laboratories has upgraded its Tianjin factory to improve its competitiveness in the global market.

Asymchem Life Science has refashioned its production lines for peptides, polysaccharide and oligonucleotide class macromolecules, the Tianjin-based drugmaker parent said in a statement on Oct. 18. The firm did not disclose the scale of project investment but said it has been self-funded.

The production line upgrade will develop and optimize the active pharmaceutical ingredient maker's services, the company added.

Asymchem Laboratories will also invest up to CNY1.8 billion (USD259.5 million) to build a plant to make biomacromolecular drugs in Shanghai's Jinshan district to enhance its service, it said last week.
