(Yicai Global) July 5 -- The Economic Cooperation between China and the ASEAN countries will continue to deepen, a prominent official in China's biggest city has predicted.

China and the ASEAN countries can cooperate in a wide range of fields, including trade under the Belt and Road initiative, which will offer choice opportunities for Chinese enterprises to go ASEAN, said Dong Yunhu, president of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee, speaking at a seminar themed Chinese Companies Going ASEAN.

China practices tariff reductions and trade liberalization with Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore within the framework of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, Dong said.

The one-day seminar aims to coordinate One Belt, One Road interaction and develop ASEAN countries for long-term mutual benefit.

The topics discussed at the seminar include the opportunities and challenges of investment and trade facilitation and the business environment in the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, as well as cultural exchanges and the social responsibility of Chinese enterprises going global.

Sponsored by China Public Diplomacy Association and CPPCC Shanghai Committee, the Chinese Enterprises Going Global seminar series has been successfully held up to this sixth session, with the previous subjects being going to the EU, the US, Latin America, Africa and BRICS countries.

Heads and officials of China Economic and Social Council, CPPCC Shanghai Committee, and Consulate General of the ASEAN countries in Shanghai also attended this most recent seminar.
