(Yicai Global) Sept. 7 -- Chengdu, a city in Southwest China, has decided to build a 750-kilometer-long green bike path system by 2020, and increase its total length to 1,920 km and 17,000 km by 2025 and 2040, respectively, Jiemian News reported yesterday.
The network will also offer jogging tracks between stadiums, other sports facilities, parks and wetlands.
China plans to build bicycle paths measuring more than 10,000 miles in length over the next 23 years to curb pollution and traffic congestion. Many consider the Chengdu pilot to be a plan for the most extensive bicycle network in the world.
