Chengdu Implements New Ride-Hailing Regulations to Punish Account-Sharing Drivers Chengdu Implements New Ride-Hailing Regulations to Punish Account-Sharing Drivers

(Yicai Global) Oct. 27 -- Chengdu, the capital of China's western Sichuan province, has introduced a new policy on car-sharing in the city which brings in punishments for drivers who allow others to use their accounts on sharing platforms, the municipal government said on its website yesterday.

The new regulations also require shared car-sharing enterprises to procure road transport permits for vehicles, and make clear the nature of their leasing activities.

Vehicles will require the installation of a satellite positioning device and emergency alarm, while companies must purchase insurance for users.

If users share their driver accounts with others, they will face fines and account holders shall bear all legal responsibility for any traffic accidents that occur related to their registered vehicle.

The new rules also encourage the use of new-energy vehicle rentals and point out that the city will have 2,500 NEV charging stations and 10,000 charging piles by the end of next year, rising to 5,000 and 20,000, respectively, by the end of 2020.
