(Yicai Global) July 13 -- Changan Ford Automobile Co., a joint-venture between Chang'an Automobile Group Co. and Ford Motor Co., might not achieve its sales target of one million cars this year due to its damaged brand image caused by quality issues.
The Chongqing-based manufacturer sold 423,520 cars in the first half, below its full-year sales target, and less than the 429,683 vehicles sold over the same period last year, statistics show.
The company's brand image has been damaged due to recent issues with its dual-clutch gearbox installed in some of its latest models, including the Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo.
Slack sales have prompted rapid adjustments to the company's sales operations and schedule. However it remains unclear whether this will be enough to help the company meet its target of one million sales this year, said a market analyst.
