(Yicai Global) Jan. 22 -- Changan Automobile Co., one of China's biggest carmakers has selected a unit of Hagong Intelligent Robot Co. to provide welding robots for its expansion of an assembly line at its plant in Chongqing in the west of the country.

Tianjin-based subsidiary ASSET Industrial Equipment Co. won a CNY82.525 million (USD12.89 million) contract for the project, the firm said in a press briefing on Jan. 20.

The deal helps Hagong to increase its market share in providing smart production lines for the auto sector, and will also boost operating results this year and next, the statement said.

The project win marks the second time that Hagong has attracted business from Changan Auto. The company won a CNY112 million (USD17 million) contract last month to provide smart welding robots for the company's Beijing facility.
