(Yicai Global) Dec. 22 -- Contemporary Amperex Technology has signed a long-term agreement with Gresham House Energy Storage Fund to supply the UK new energy investor with 7.5 gigawatt-hours worth of battery energy storage systems.

This is one of the first few strategic partnerships CATL has entered into with owners of BESS assets, the Ningde-based firm said on its official WeChat account today. The pair will strive to expand the scope to 10 GWh, it added.

CATL noted that the partnership of the two big players in their respective fields will accelerate the deployment of BESS, a crucial technology for enabling the use of renewable energt on an even larger scale and achieving global carbon neutrality targets.

Gresham House is a specialist alternative asset manager dedicated to investments in tangible assets with an environmental, social, and governance focus, according to CATL. Gresham House Energy Storage Fund is the UK’s largest owner of utility-scale BESS assets powering the renewable energy transition.

CATL has also signed a number of cooperation agreements this month, including with carmakers Chery Automobile and Changan Automobile and auto software provider Huawei Technologies.
