(Yicai) Sept. 13 -- Contemporary Amperex Technology is teaming up with infrastructure investment firm Shandong High-Speed Group to develop a battery swap network for heavy-duty trucks in Shandong province as well as on the production of green electricity and other new energy-related fields, the Chinese electric car battery giant said today.

CATL’s heavy-duty truck battery swapping platform Qiji Energy will leverage its edge in innovative technologies to form a super-fast battery-swap network along the main expressways in eastern Shandong province, where Shandong High-Speed owns many infrastructure resources, the battery maker said, citing the agreement penned by the two parties yesterday.

CATL and Jinan-based Shandong High-Speed will continue to deepen their ties to build a green trunk-line transport network, in order to help Shandong in its energy transformation, the Ningde, southeastern Fujian province-based company added.

Shandong High-Speed has the most assets of any company in the province and the most of any investment group in the country under the jurisdiction of a provincial government in the field of infrastructure.

CATL is the world's biggest maker of batteries for electric cars and is also engaged in the new energy and battery recycling sectors.

It has been moving into battery-swap solutions for heavy-duty trucks in recent years and in March teamed up with Fujian Expressway Group to build four battery-exchange stations along 346 kilometers of expressway between Ningde and the provincial capital of Xiamen.
