(Yicai Global) Jan. 27 -- Cainiao Network Technology, ZTO Express and several other Chinese delivery firms are increasing their prices over the upcoming week-long Chinese New Year public holiday, according to their recent statements.

Cainiao, the logistics arm of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding, will increase its delivery fees by CNY1.50 (USD0.24) per package, which is less than it did last year. Some 150,000 staff members will continue to work at the Hangzhou-based courier over the holiday, which runs from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, to ensure the smooth operation of both domestic and overseas deliveries.

Shanghai-based ZTO Express is charging CNY1.50 (USD0.24) more per package weighing up to 1 kilogram and an additional CNY0.30 per kilogram for those parcels heavier than 1 kg.

SF Express is charging an additional CNY0.20 (USD0.03) to CNY1 per kilogram for parcels above 20 kg that are sent in the run-up to the holiday from Jan. 10 to Jan. 30. Clients with a standing account at the Shenzhen-based courier will not be charged extra, it said.

Global logistic firms DHL and FedEx and bulk carriers such as Deppon Logistics, ZTO Freight and Yunda Freight will close for the holiday.
