(Yicai Global) Jan. 4 -- ByteDance has denied a social media rumor of a fight between one of its employees and a human resources staffer over a year-end bonus, saying that it had found no evidence of the incident, China News reported today.
The Beijing-based TikTok owner said its year-end bonus evaluations had not started yet, and they are usually paid in April.
A post on social media yesterday said that a ByteDance employee claimed to have worked until 7.30 p.m. every night until December but did not receive a year-end bonus, so he fought with an HR staffer, an incident that ended in the latter being dismissed.
ByteDance plans to lay off about 10 percent of its workforce. As of the end of last year, the firm had about 110,000 staff. Employees at several business units have received redundancy notices, news outlet Jiemian reported on Dec. 30.
