(Yicai Global) Sept. 12 -- BYD Co. [SHE: 002594] said at the Solar Power International trade show yesterday that it received a solar module order worth millions of dollars.
BYD won the bid to provide NextEra Energy Inc. [NYSE:NEE] with 170 megawatts of solar modules for the construction of power plants in the US, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
By winning the bid, BYD proved that the world’s most stringent market has recognized its new energy technology and quality, and BYD is exploring wind energy in addition to the commercialization of the solar energy, said Zhao Tong, general manager of BYD’s overseas solar sales.
BYD Solar modules contributed nearly 1 gigawatt to the US new energy market, accounting for about 50 percent of the frequency modulation reserve market.
Las Vegas hosts the Solar Power International annually. It is the largest solar energy industry exhibition in North America and attracts many top companies from different sectors.
