(Yicai Global) Jan. 3 -- BYD was once again the top seller of new energy vehicles among Chinese manufacturers last month.

NEV sales jumped 150 percent to 235,197 in December from a year ago, the Shenzhen-based carmaker said yesterday. The annual figure more than tripled to nearly 1.9 million.

Rivals Tesla, Changan Automobile Group, and Chinese joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile have not yet announced their sales figures for December.

GAC Aion New Energy Automobile sold 30,007 electric vehicles last month, up 107 percent from a year earlier, it said on Jan. 1. Sales rose a record 126 percent to 271,000 for the whole of 2022.

Li Auto delivered a monthly record of 21,233 cars to customers in December, a gain of 41 percent on a year ago, the firm said on Jan. 1. Annual deliveries jumped 47 percent to 133,246.

Nio also set a single-month delivery record of 15,815, a year-on-year increase of 51 percent, with the full-year number climbing 34 percent to 122,486, the automaker said on Jan. 1.

Xpeng Motors shipments slid 29 percent to 11,292 NEVs in December from a year earlier, the company announced on Jan. 1. Last year, deliveries grew 23 percent to 120,757.

Aito, a brand under Huawei Technologies' car manufacturing partner Sokon Automobile, said on the same day that deliveries of its Wenjie series totaled 10,143 units last month, remaining above 10,000.

Leapmotor Technology said it shipped 8,493 cars last month, up 8.8 percent from a year earlier, and handed over 111,168 autos to customers last year, a surge of 154 percent.
