BYD, Microsoft May Make Automobile AI Ecological Chain

(Yicai Global) Oct. 20 -- Alain Crozier, Microsoft Corp.'s [NASDAQ:MSFT] senior vice president and chairman and chief executive of greater China, as well as other Microsoft executives met with Shu Youxing, the general manager of BYD Auto Sales Co. and his team at the Chinese car company's Pingshan branch, where they agreed to explore the Internet of Vehicles (IOV), big data and artificial intelligence, Auto.163.com reported.

BYD reportedly hopes to establish a partnership with Microsoft in personalization, datamation and user interaction experience to jointly build an auto AI ecological chain.

The two sides have reached a preliminary agreement, and Microsoft has invited BYD to visit it for further discussions about the feasibility of subsequent collaboration. They will announce details about their cooperation at the end of this month.

Microsoft is a leader in software, cloud management and AI with its OneDrive cloud service and Bing search engine. BYD has advantages in the fields of IOV and AI. Its auto products have acclaimed relevant intelligent features including BYD cloud services, remotely controlled intelligent locks, remote start air conditioning and remote driving, and intelligent voice navigation.

Domestic automakers cannot succeed by simply making plug-in hybrid cars and pure electric vehicles, and internet companies, traditional automobile enterprises and tech firms can strengthen their cooperation to bring scientific and technological innovations to the field of auto intelligence.
