(Yicai Global) Oct. 20 -- Suzhou Boamax Technologies Group Co. [SHE:002514], a machinery and equipment manufacturer based in China's eastern province of Zhejiang, and Germany's University of Konstanz have successfully developed silicon wafer processing equipment which can significantly cut the cost of solar power generation.

The new apparatus can produce nano-scale black silicon suede, which is far less reflective than traditional materials and has a better photoelectric conversion rate than traditional crystalline silicon wafers, the firm said in a statement yesterday.

Given the same amount of sunlight, the black silicon cells can generate hundreds of times more electricity than their traditional counterparts.

The new equipment has already been put to use at Golden Concord Group Ltd., China's leading photovoltaic developer, the statement added.
