(Yicai Global) May 8 -- China's Beiqi Foton Motor has completed the first on-road tests of its self-driving heavy-duty trucks, making it the first company to trial such vehicles, according to state-run Guangming Daily.
The test was conducted on a 3.5 kilometer long highway near Tianjin, where the trucks were able to accelerate, change lanes and slow down on straight and curved roads, as well as stop and start at traffic lights.
Foton obtained China's first license to test driverless commercial vehicles in April 2018.
