Beijing's New Airport Receives First Jet Fuel Delivery Beijing's New Airport Receives First Jet Fuel Delivery

(Yicai Global) Aug. 7 -- The first batch of jet fuel bound for Beijing Daxing International Airport has arrived at the transit hub as it nears the start of operations.

The fuel came via a dedicated 157.5 kilometer pipeline set up by PetroChina North China Petrochemical, the airport's primary supplier, Economic Information Daily reported. The line can transport 1.7 million tons of fuel a year.

The PetroChina subsidiary began stockpiling fuel for the airport in October last year, and the 1,300 tons it produces each day will allow it to meet Beijing Daxing's demand in the short term, said Deputy General Manager Zhang Jingtao. The firm is ready to increase supply at any moment, he added.

Daxing cost around CNY80 billion (USD11.4 billion) to build and will have the capacity to handle 45 million passengers a year in its early operations, scheduled to begin on Sept. 30.
