(Yicai Global) Dec. 12 -- The under-construction Daxing International Airport in Beijing will install a smart retail system for its duty-free shopping area as part of efforts to attract global brands ahead of its opening in late 2019.

The intelligent system will use Big Data to analyze ticket statistics, and provide passengers with personalized shopping, taxi-hailing and leisure services, as well as improved user experience.

Beijing Capital Airport Commercial & Trading Co. will commence retailer recruitment in February 2018, while retail prices will be will be consistent with those at the existing Capital International Airport, Beijing Evening News reported yesterday.

Daxing Airport will feature some 20,000 square meters of retail facilities, of which 7,000 square meters will be in international terminals and 13,000 square meters will be in domestic terminals.

The airport is also considering partnerships with e-commerce leviathans Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA] and JD.com Inc. [NASDAQ:JD], as well as online cab-hailing platforms such as Didi Chuxing Technology Co., to gain access to their user databases.

Initial passenger volumes at Daxing are expected to be 45 million and reach 72 million by 2025. It will boost links between the capital with neighboring Tianjin municipality and Hebei province.
