(Yicai) Aug. 2 -- Beijing and Hebei provinces in northern China as well as Henan province in central China have temporarily closed many tourist attractions due to deadly rainfall and floods.
In the capital city, the Summer Palace remains closed till Aug. 5 whereas the Palace Museum and the Beijing Aquarium reopened today. The Great Wall, including the popular Badaling section, is still closed until further notice.
Since July 29, the remnants of Typhoon Doksuri have triggered floods in Beijing and Hebei, causing 11 deaths in the capital city and nine in Hebei as of yesterday.
In Tianjin, the Panshan scenic area is not accepting visitors, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Panshan Yanjing Beer and Food Electronic Music Festival is canceled. However, several parks are scheduled to reopen in the northern city tomorrow.
The storms have also affected other areas. For a while, visitors are not allowed to go to Yuntai Mountain in central China's Henan, nor can they visit northern Shanxi province's Mount Hengshan, Xuankong Temple, and the Yangquan Niangziguan scenic area.
Travel agencies reminded tourists of the priority of safety. Spring Tour, a major tourism agency, proposes that tourists should stay in hotels, reschedule their trips, and apply for refunds based on the actual situation, Deputy Manager Zhou Weihong said to Yicai.
Trip.Com Group has initiated a major disaster protection plan to reschedule tourists’ tours or refund their money, the firm noted.
