(Yicai Global) Nov. 10 -- Beijing's first medium-to-low speed maglev train Line S1 will be opened for trial operation by the end of this year. Seven new roads will be built to facilitate citizens' travel, Beijing Youth Daily reported today.
Line S1, with a total length of 10.2 kilometers and 8 stations, is the first medium-to-low speed maglev line in Beijing. Designed at a maximum operating speed of 100 km, the train has six carriages with a total length of 89.6 meters and loading capacity of 1,032 passengers. After the opening, there will be 10 trains in daily operation.
To facilitate it for passengers to take the new line, the transport departments will build seven new roads, a 5,500-square meter 'park and ride' (P+R) parking lot at one of the stations along the line, three new bus terminals and seven bus stops to connect to the new line.
