(Yicai Global) March 17 -- Bank of China, one of China's Big Four banks, has appointed the former president of joint-stock lender China Everbright Bank as its president in the latest in a string of executive shuffles.
Liu Jin will also hold the positions of executive director, vice chairman and member of the strategic development committee of the board, the Beijing-based bank said yesterday.
He replaces Wang Jiang who left on Feb. 5 to head rival China Construction Bank.
54-year-old Liu brings a wealth of experience from the state-owned banking sector both at home and abroad. He started off as branch manager at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, before rising to become vice chairman and general manager of ICBC Europe and general manager of ICBC’s Frankfurt branch. He also served as vice president of China Development Bank from September 2018 to November 2019 and joined Chinese Everbright Bank as president in January last year.
As part of the reshuffle, Bank of China also promoted its Chief Overseas Business Officer Chen Huaiyu to vice president. 51-year-old Chen has worked in a number of senior positions at the bank both in China and abroad for the last 24 years, including president of its Sydney branch, president of its Hungary branch and assistant to the president and credit risk director at its Guangdong branch.
Chief Risk Officer of BOC Hong Kong Zhuo Chengwen was made chief auditor. 51-year-old Zhuo is a life-long BOC employee and he too has risen through the ranks to become deputy general manager of BOC New York Branch, deputy general manager of BOC’s Financial Management Department and chief financial officer of BOC Hong Kong.
