(Yicai Global) Dec. 8 -- On the third day of Qualcomm's Snapdragon Tech Summit 2017 held in the US state of Hawaii, Jing Kun, general manager of the Duer division of Baidu Inc. [NASDAQ:BIDU] announced that it had reached strategic operation with Qualcomm Inc. [NASDAQ:QCOM], per which Baidu's dialog artificial intelligence system DuerOS will embed in Qualcomm Snapdragon's chip platform, with the operation to also include the upcoming Snapdragon 845 mobile platform, as it.sohu.com reported.

The Snapdragon-based DuerOS voice solution features 24-hour online, low power consumption, voice control and other features, as Jing explained.

The Snapdragon-embedded DuerOS also activates with a voice command and specially optimizes the interruptive terminal activation, making speech more identifiable in a noisy environment. Thus, users can interact with devices via voice instructions even when they are playing music.

DuerOS can tap more data and services via Snapdragon. DuerOS already has more than 130 partners, Jing noted.

The cooperation aims to support future software released on Snapdragon mobile platforms' optimization of DuerOS reference applications, enabling original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to bring AI voice solutions to their terminal products with a better user experience and shorter time to industrialize them. 

DuerOS is an important component of Baidu's 'All in AI' strategy. The human-computer interaction program -- from the keyboard and mouse interaction to the touch interaction in the current mobile era -- will develop towards future voice interaction. "Voice interaction must be more natural, consume less power and be accepted by more people," Jing said.
