Argentina's Maradona Announces He Will Work in Chinese Football

(Yicai Global) March 10 -- Diego Maradona, Argentina's 'King of Football' has announced he will work in China.

Maradona said on his Instagram account in Spanish, Italian and English today, "Thank you very much Ms. Tang Qinghui for this opportunity you are giving me to work in China, I will be eternally grateful!"

Maradona also posted a picture of himself and Tang holding up the Five-Starred Red Flag (the national flag of the People's Republic of China) together.

Tang -- an overseas Chinese in Argentina -- is currently chair of Maradona Investment Group Co., and primarily engages in football cultural exchanges between China and Argentina.

It remains unclear what role Maradona, who is 57 years old this year, will play in China's football cause. His lawyer Matias Morla said the King of Football will devote himself to training young teams and campus football players.

"Diego would be in charge of teaching children in the different schools, it is a very important project and that without doubt could mark a before and after in a power like China," she said, "Maradona is excited about that possibility but there are steps to follow."

On March 2, Maradona's lawyer Matias Morla announced that he will be likely to coach football in China. Maradona has quit his job in Dubai to facilitate his work in China. Maradona's compatriot, Carlos Tevez, joined Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club three months ago.
