(Yicai) June 27 -- Apple will launch its mixed reality headset Vision Pro in the Chinese mainland market tomorrow.
The 256 gigabyte, 512 GB, and 1 terabyte versions of the Vision Pro are priced from CNY29,999 (USD4,135), CNY31,499 (USD4,345), and CNY32,999 (USD4,550), respectively, in China, according to Apple's website. The prices are between 16 percent and 18 percent higher than in the United States.
Preorders for the Vision Pro started on June 13 in the Chinese mainland.
The Vision Pro was a success when it was first released in the US, so the prices for purchasing it on Chinese e-commerce sites through foreign procurement services ranged from CNY40,000 to CNY80,000. However, as the US version did not support Chinese language and apps, the prices of some models fell below official prices.
Apple lowered its forecast for this year’s Vision Pro shipments to between 400,000 and 450,000 units from a previous market consensus of no less than 700,000 to 800,000 units, Ming-Chi Kuo, a tech sector analyst known for his accurate Apple insights, said on social media in April.
Chinese video streaming platform iQiyi today released its Vision Pro app that allows users to watch over 25,000 immersive and interactive high-quality videos in different immersive movie-watching scenarios and use three-dimensional emojis for bullet screen comments. Platinum and above VIPs can enjoy the full-view movie service with up to 8K resolution.
The emergence of new-generation spatial computing devices, including the Vision Pro, will change users' movie-watching scenarios and habits, iQiyi said, adding that it will continue to drive the innovation of movie-watching experience to meet different needs.
