(CBN - Global) April 8 -- Apple Inc.'s share of China's smartphone market fell for the first time since 2014 in the three months ended February as iPhone sales momentum slowed.
Cupertino-based Apple's market share fell 3.2 percent to 22.2 percent. Huawei Technologies Ltd., the world's third-biggest smartphone maker, saw its share gain to 24.4 percent. Huawei launched its latest flagship Android handset, the P9, in London yesterday.
Data from technology research firm Kantar Worldpanel Comtech shows that the rapid development of China's smartphone manufacturers has caused Apple's iOS to lose market share in the country. The market shares of Meizu Technology Co. and Oppo Electronics Corp. have also increased significantly, with each securing about 6 percent of the market.
